Welcome to Writing Voices. My name is John Brewster, and I am a writer, poet, creative writing tutor and musician. I live in Scotland, in the Kingdom of Fife. I write in English and in Scots. New Creative Writing Courses at Madras College, St Andrews, Fife

I am running two new creative writing courses this September at Madras College in St Andrews. Here are the course details:

Creative Writing Course for Children - 14 Weeks - Thursday 16 September to Thursday 16 December - 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Creative Writing Course for Adults - 14 weeks - Thursday 16 September to Thursday 16 December - 7pm to 9pm.

I am running two new creative writing courses this September at Waid Academy in Anstruther. Here are the course details:

Creative Writing Course for Children - 12 Weeks - Tuesday 14 September to Tuesday 14 December - 5.45pm to 6.45pm (no classes during October holiday).

Creative Writing Course for Adults - 12 weeks - Tuesday 14 September to Tuesday 14 December - 7pm to 9pm (no classes during October holiday).

Free Creative Writing Workshops and Songwriting Workshop!

I am running two free creative writing workshops at the St Monans Community Arts Festival 2010. Both workshops are on Saturday 18th September, at Abercrombie Court Lounge in St Monans. The first one is called Writing in Scots, and is from 9.30am to 11am - for all ages, max. 10 people. The second is called Creative Writing For Young People, and is from 11.30am to 1pm - for 11-16 year olds, max. 10 people. For further details and to book, email me at info@writingvoices.com.

The free songwriting workshop is on Saturday 18th September as well, at the Church Hall in St Monans. It is from 2-4pm, and will be run by the musician Sarah Banjo and myself. for a time

for a time we dance

and then hang up our shoes

for a time we cry

and then hang up our blues

for a time we rage

at the chances we spoiled

at the snakes who foiled

us in their coiled

calculation

for a time we walk

and then hang up our miles

for a time we laugh

and then hang up our smiles

for a time we fume

at the hard life we toiled

at the snakes who soiled

us in their coiled

calculation
